An overview of the tight race between Cruz and O'Rourke

On September 20th 2018, the Austin American-Statesman posted the online article "Locked in a surprisingly close race, Cruz fights back" by Jonathan Tilove. Tilove is the Statesman's chief political writer. This article discusses the close race between Ted Cruz and Beto O'Rourke for Texas Senate. Although it focuses mainly on Cruz, and is thus quite biased to the Republicans, it does showcase the importance for citizens to go vote. This election could go either way, so every vote matters. In addition, the article discusses what Cruz's arguments are, so it will also serve to inform the voter of his stances.

Some of Cruz's main arguments against O'Rourke were that he would be against gun rights, and would even ban barbecue. Personally, I find this as a scare tactic to persuade the voters to vote for Cruz. He also claimed that "'O'Rourke is out of touch with Texas on immigration'"Cruz continued by downplaying the blue wave, claiming "'we've seen this show before'" and that in the end the democratic platform was "'out of step with the people from Texas.'" Due to this and several other pieces of key information, this article should be read to fuel the fire to get out and vote.
