Vote For Beto O'Rourke!

Leading up to the midterm elections, Beto O'Rourke has effectively proved that he truly cares for his Texas constituents. He has visited every county in Texas and has made sure to acknowledge the opinions of all residents. This true devotion exhibits his emphasis on being available to and caring for the citizens of Texas. The same certainly could not be said for his opponent and incumbent "Lyin' Ted Cruz." For this, and several other reasons, the voters of Texas should select Beto O'Rourke for senate.

O'Rourke has also been running a grassroots campaign. This means that he hasn't accepted money from any political action committees. This ensures that he will remain unbiased when contemplating issues important to the people of Texas. In the debate between O'Rourke and Cruz, Beto recommended for people to "follow the money" and it is clear that Cruz takes money from PACs and is thus influenced by their desires. Furthermore, the fact that Beto has gotten this far solely off of the contributions of those that support him is very impressive.

O'Rourke is also fighting for universal healthcare. He believes that this is a right and would like to call for the expansion of Medicaid to ensure care for children, the elderly, and the disabled. This is a very controversial political issue, especially with the increasing influence of the Tea Party Republicans. It is comforting to know that O'Rourke cares more about the well-being of citizens than the money, unlike Ted Cruz.

O'Rourke also has a progressive immigration policy. Being from El Paso, Beto has been well associated with people of different races. He would like to call for the DREAM Act in which children brought here illegally will be able to find a permanent home and citizenship in the United States. He would also like to give those seeking refuge from violence or persecution a fair chance at citizenship. He also emphasizes demilitarizing the immigration enforcement system. Finally, he is seeking to encourage and facilitate the reunification of families that have been separated. President Trump's controversial policies were unjust, in my opinion, and it is encouraging that Beto is attempting to undo those wrongs.

Ted Cruz has been more focused on furthering his own career and agenda than adhering to the voices of Texas. After President Trump berated Cruz's wife and Cruz himself, Cruz showed his true colors choosing to "brown nose" the President following his withdrawal. Personally, I would support a senator who cares more about the citizens and making a change. That is why I voted for Beto, and I hope my fellow citizens will as well.
